This was a Rossbott tasting. I made a last minute decision to go when I saw there'd be 4 old Ridge Zins in the line-up, including one from Shenandoah. I've been very impressed by a couple of their old Zins from the Sierra Foothills.
11 people, 8 wines. We tasted blind and individually ranked them. The rankings are compiled and tallied, yielding a group score, ranking and a spread. The score is 1 point for each 1st place vote, 2 for 2nd and so on down to 8 for 8th, so the lower the score the better. The spread shows the number of votes for the following rankings: 1st/2nd/3rd/last.

Amazing aromatics on these wines, so varied and exciting. No two were close. Too bad only two were pleasant to drink. I'm glad I nailed the Shenandoah. None of the others were obvious, as their various prominent aromatics had nothing to do with the sites.
