Downhill '06 Pinot Noir Peter Martin Ray Vyd.

Tried one of these on release, last June. It was tight, and only hinting at what it was:
Dark spiced plum nose. Smoky roast plum, firm tannin, forest, cinnamon, tar. Needs time. 91+

Decided to open one last week, and it's opened up and showing a lot:
Nose - warm, smoky, zesty, roasted plum, graphite, iodine, forest floor.
Round, zesty, cranberry, grapefruit, orange zest, smooth tannins, smoky, strawberry, iodine, tea, cardamon, rosemary, tarragon. Very enjoyable. This shows the site well, but is stylistically a bit different than the Cronins, or the neighboring Mount Eden. 92+
