Apple Piety

Burt and I stopped by Fermentation Frenzy on our way home from the Woodside tasting, as they were having a sale event. We didn't have much time, but there were a bunch of home brewers sharing their stuff, and there were these guys from Oak Ash & Thorn Brewing Company in Redwood City pouring their Apple Piety cordial. It is a spiced apple mistelle, which I found stunning. In talking to them, they clearly know what they're doing, and it's evidenced in this product. They clearly chose the right apples. It's 17.5% alcohol, but tastes like 11%. Clean rich fresh apple, with a sort of light feel, delicately sweet, just the right amount of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Very nice, perfect balance.
They are a new operation, making meads, ciders and cordials. I look forward to trying some of their other products.
